National Writers Organization Names Clay Stafford Regional PresidentJanuary 10, 2006 (Nashville, TN)-- The Southeast Mystery Writers of America (SEMWA) has elected Franklin-based author/screenwriter Clay Stafford as Regional President of their six-state area and with that distinction he becomes the newest member of the Mystery Writers of America’s National Board of Directors. “The nominating committee, which is composed of international bestselling novelists including Kim Harrison, Tamar Myers, and myself, found Clay the unanimous choice for President,” past president Gwen Hunter says. “His background in writing, film, acting, and production, his gifts for handling talents and his contacts in the industry make him the perfect choice for a job that challenges the best of us. Many talks with Clay since have left me even more satisfied that he is the only one for the job.” "I am looking forward to an exciting, proactive year with this new board,” Stafford says. Stafford’s election to SEMWA follows closely on the heels of other honors and achievements including receiving his fourth international film award for his independently produced project, “Bringing Daddy Home--The Call.” SEMWA is a regional chapter of the Mystery Writer’s of America, Inc., the premier organization for mystery writers and other professionals in the mystery field.
